Arge-Alp-Cup, Einzel, 5,0km + 170m climb
A bit less high than yesterday, but very rainy. Had a great run until control 14, then searched there for a while (I claim the control wasn't at the described feature), got cold and made a subsequent series of errors to the next control, starting with a route choice error and a silly correction, etc... By then I was quite cold and ended up getting cramps in the calf on the way to the last control. Damned, if only this race had ended at control 13...
But great terrain and nice course :)
Details:
11) Little hesitations in the circle. 15s
14) Perfectly spiked the featured knolls, stood between them but didn't see a control. Then guessed that it might is at the wrong knolls and went left - only when I came back did I see that the control in reality wasn't between the knolls, but behind one :( 1:20 lost and getting cold in the progress.
15) Route choice error first: should have gone around on the path, instead climbed on the hill, then chickened out of the direct downhill because it looked so ugly, steep and thorny and I had very woobly legs by then. So down the path and to the place where I would have ended up had I taken the path route choice from the beginning. From then route was clear, but I was so frustrated with my mistake that I was desperately looking for a way to save time and shortcut, going into the thicket twice only to realize that staying on the intended route would be the best. Time loss estimate: Routechoice 3:30 at least, silly shortcut attempts another minute. Yes, my brain was frozen at that point.
Total mistakes: ca. 6 min.
