Regional champs middle distance; 4,2km + 135hm

Wonderful forest, good map and good course - orienteering at it's best. Also had a near perfect run on 80% of the course: in control, with flow, controls were I expected them to be and even a nice running rhytm if it wasn't uphill - but unfortunately also made 2 really silly, unnecessary and costly mistakes :(
Details:
1) Was standing at the stone next to the control, but expected the control to be at that stone, didn't see one and guessed I'm not far enough - silly me, cause I had a quite secure route and attackpoint (first mistake: too easily doubting my orienteering). Further on until I could see the feeder and a control which I though was at the hole, compass bearing from there - no control. After a bit of aimless looking around I actually ran to the other control, realized it's actually at the knoll (second mistake: re-locating on wild assumptions) and from there on easily realized that the control has the be were I already was, just one stone further west :( 4:20 lost already...
2) Spiked, but took it slow and secure after the disaster on 1
11) Second big mistake: left from the route with only a rough compass bearing and no picture at all in my mind what to expect around the control - which led to me running not to far from the control but didn't seeing it and started to searching much farther on. Re-located on the path, now had a plan and mental picture and easily found the control. 2:43 :(
12) Little routechoice error, should have run along the yellow.
Total mistakes: ca. 7 min. :((
